During his time at PSG after joining the club from AS Monaco in 2017, Mbappe earned the nickname “Ninja Turtle.”

In the PSG dressing room, especially, Mbappe was humorously associated with the Ninja Turtles, a popular children’s television show, upon arriving in Paris.

Mbappe’s nickname was cemented during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, when Thiago Silva, a PSG player, gifted him a Ninja Turtle mask in a Dior box.

What does Donatello mean?
