Karwa Chauth Fasting:Karwa Chauth has been traditionally considered a symbol of love and devotion but when performed the Ayurvedic way, it is a sacred detox for the body and mind.
Ayurveda considers fasting (upavasa) as a potent healing method that restores the dosha balance, energizes the digestive fire (agni), and brings in the peace within. Yet, a wrongly done fast can throw this vastra bhandhana (faint balance) off, making one suffer from lethargy, acidity, or vata and pitta imbalance.
On accepting the Karwa Chauth ritual in the light of Ayurveda, women can not only keep the promise of the ritual but also improve their health condition by coordinating diet, time, and rituals with their own body type (prakriti).
Fasting in Ayurveda
In Ayurveda Upavasa or fasting is a practice that is considered very close to the Self. It’s not only a prohibition of food but a purification of the inner sphere, self-discipline and absence of heaviness. When fasting is carried out with the right mindset, it allows the person to keep his vigour, concentration and emotional serenity intact and nourishing.

Do not eat foods that are fried, spicy, or sour and do not drink curd early in the morning as it can cause heaviness in the stomach.

Those who do not even drink water (Nirjala) and fast should rest in cool and shady places to save their energy.
Put rose water on your forehead and palms to cool down.
Take deep breaths, meditate and rest as much as you can.
You can also do Sheetli and Sheetkari Pranayam to benefit the maximum on this day.

Karwa Chauth Fasting: After-Fast Care
According to Ayurveda, it is advised to take steps to regain strength slowly after the fast.
Take a small amount of ghee with jaggery before sleep to restore the lost energy.
The following day, eat a complete meal, including grains and cooked vegetables, to stabilize digestion and strength.
Fasting is a form of dedication, however Ayurveda also emphasizes the importance of taking care of our body. Fasting with awareness, feeding softly, and respecting our health as well as our religion are the things that Ayurveda conveys to us. Ayurveda instructs that genuine recovering happens when worship is in harmony with the right balance.
