How to Find and Connect with Friends: The new Instagram Threads programme allows you to add Instagram users you already follow to your following list so they can follow you back.

While setting up Threads for the first time or by manually accessing the app’s Profile and Activity screens, you can locate and follow your Instagram friends. When you access your Instagram following list, you can choose to follow users individually or all at once.

Can Instagram acquaintances be followed on Threads?

When you sign up for the first time on the Threads app, the app utilises your existing Instagram account to log you into your Threads account. Since Threads is inherently linked to your Instagram account, you can import your Instagram friends either during or after account creation.

You can follow any or all of your Instagram contacts, regardless of how you access your list, even if some of them have not yet joined Threads. When you follow Instagram users who are not yet on Threads, your request to follow them will be registered for when they download the new app. Depending on the type of account your peers create (Public or Private), you can either follow their account immediately or wait for their approval before contacting them on Threads.

How to Find and Connect with Friends?

There are numerous ways to discover and follow your Instagram friends on the new Threads app.

Method 1: During configuration of Threads

When setting up Threads for the first time is the simplest time to discover your Instagram friends to follow on the platform. Open the Threads app once you’ve downloaded it to your device and completed the initial setup.

After selecting your Instagram account to log into Threads and entering your details on the Profile tab, the “Follow the same accounts you follow on Instagram?” screen will appear. This is where you will find a list of all your Instagram followers.

You can scroll through this list and select the Follow button next to the Threads user you wish to follow.

If you’re having trouble finding someone in your friends list, you can use the search box at the top of the page to check for their name or username. When their profile appears, you can select the Follow button to send them a request to follow you.

Threads also simplifies the process of following multiple Instagram users by allowing you to follow them all at once. Tap Follow all at the bottom of the screen titled “Follow the same accounts you follow on Instagram?”

After selecting the users you wish to follow, you can complete the initial configuration by tapping Next in the upper-right corner and then following the on-screen instructions.

The specified users will appear in your Threads profile as follows.

How to Find and Connect with Friends: Method two is accessed via your Threads profile

If you did not follow your Instagram friends during the initial setup or if you wish to follow more individuals, you can still do so. After successfully creating your account, launch the Threads app on your mobile device.

Tap the Profile tab in the bottom right corner of Threads.

When your profile screen appears, select the number of your followers just below your name/bio. Even if you currently have no followers, this number will still be displayed as “0 followers” on the screen.

In the subsequent screen, you will see a list of your Threads profile’s followers. Tap the Following tab at the top of this page.

Tap All at the top when the Following tab is selected.

This will open the “Follow the same accounts you follow on Instagram?” screen, where a catalogue of your Instagram friends will appear. To follow someone on this list, browse down and locate them, then tap the Follow button to the right of their name.

You can also use the search bar at the top of the page to find a particular name or username in the roster. When their profile appears, you can select the Follow button to send them a request to follow you.

Depending on whether the person you followed has a public or private account, the Follow icon may be replaced by either the “Following” or “Requested” labels. Unregistered accounts will also appear as “Following” on Threads.

Tap Follow all at the bottom of the screen if you desire to import your entire list of followed accounts into Threads.

When you do so, an on-screen prompt will appear explaining what happens when you execute this action. Tap OK to confirm your decision.

Method three begins on the Activity panel

The Activity screen of the Threads app notifies you not only when someone mentions or enjoys your thread, but also when someone follows you or sends a follow request. Open the Threads programme on your smartphone to follow Instagram friends from the Activity screen.

Tap the Heart icon in the bottom right corner of Threads.

This will open the Threads Activity interface.

Scroll down this page to determine if someone is following you on Threads. If so, you can select the Follow button next to their username to begin following them on the app.

If your Threads account is set to Private, you will not be able to locate people who followed you directly on the Activity screen, as you must first accept their follow request. Tap the Requests tab at the top of the Activity screen to accomplish this.

Here is a list of individuals who have sent follow requests on Threads. To accept a user’s request, tap Confirm next to their username.

When you do so, the preceding options will be replaced by a Follow button. Tap the Follow button next to their username to follow them on Threads.

Depending on whether the person you followed has a public or private account, the Follow icon may be replaced by either the “Following” or “Requested” labels.

That is everything you need to know about following Instagram contacts on Threads.
