In yet another PUBG incident, a class 10 student identified as Kallakuri Sambashiva committed suicide in Vishnupuri Extension in Malkajgiri area.  Upset over being scolded by his parents for playing online game PUBG the 16-year-old allegedly hung himself from the ceiling at his residence during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Bharath Raj, the father of the deceased, lodged a police complaint report that his son Sambashiva committed suicide by hanging in his bedroom on Monday night after he was chided by his mother, Umadevi, for playing Player Unknown Battlegrounds video game, developed by PUBG Corporation, on his cellphone.

“Sambashiva used to play PUBG video on the cellphone and my wife Umadevi warned him not to play the game on phone on Monday night. My son became angry and committed suicide by hanging in his bedroom,” Bharath Raj mentioned in the police complaint.

The police have registered a case under section 174 of CrPC. An investigation in the matter is underway.

PUBG is an online multiplayer game where about 100 players fight it out in free for all combat where the sole survivor emerges victorious.

There have been calls to ban the game as it is “addictive” and has been linked to poor results of students in exams.
