‘I am sorry, I am tired’: NEET aspirant dies by suicide

A 19-year-old NEET student named Jyothi Sri Durga recently died by suicide writing a note to her parents which said ”I am sorry, I am tired”. NEET aspirant took her life just one day before the exam, this is the third suicide case in the last one month. NEET 2020 will be conducted on September 13 this year amid pandemic.

The girl belonged to Madhurai and lived with her family in the armed forces reserve quarters. Her father named Murugasundaram is in the fifth battalion of the armed forces. Jyothi had given NEET last year as well but secured fewer marks and was preparing to give the exam again.

According to Jyoti’s family, she was doing fine. The girl had dinner with the family on Friday night and went to her room to study but today morning she didn’t open the door. Her family also tried calling her but she did not respond. Later, they found Jyoti dead with a letter and a video.

NEET aspirant commits suicide

In the letter, the girl expressed her fears and said she was not able to live up her to her father’s expectations. She was also concerned about disappointing her parents. Jyoti’s parents were shocked after the incident. As per reports, Jyoti’s father said she was good in studies and could easily score 550 in NEET.

The cases of suicide have been drastically increasing in the country and there are many helpline numbers given on the internet for people who are suicidal. It is important to talk about the thing that is bothering you instead of giving up your life.

In the past, many students have committed suicide, parents should talk to their children and increase their confidence instead of pressuring them.
