Jahanabad: Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of jailed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday, May 5, campaigned for Lalu-Rabri Morcha candidate Chandra Prakash in Jahanabad.

“He (Lalu Prasad) is a very energetic man. He used to attend 10-12 programmes in one day. These days, leaders fall sick in only two to four programmes,” Tej Pratap Yadav said while addressing a gathering.

Claiming that he was the second Lalu of Bihar, Tej Pratap said, “He (Lalu Prasad) is our idol and our guru. I am the second Lalu Yadav in Bihar”. Lalu Prasad’s elder son further went on to take a dig at RJD hope Surender Yadav. “He steals tilkut, how will he develop the constituency,” the leader said.

Elections in Jahanabad Lok Sabha constituency will take place in the last phase of General elections on May 19.

With a total of 40 parliamentary seats, Bihar is a crucial battlefield in the fight for Delhi. The coalition gaining majority of the seats in Bihar increases its prospects to form the next government at the Centre. In 2014, Bihar, along with other parts of North India, was swept by the Narendra Modi wave — which allowed the BJP to register is best-ever electoral performance in the state.

In the last general elections, the BJP had won 22 seats, whereas, its allies LJP and RLSP bagged 6 and 3 seats, respectively. The RJD won 4 constituencies, whereas, the Congress and the JD(U) were reduced to 2 each.
