India beat Australia by 31 runs, go 1-0 in the four test series

On the eve of the final day of the Adelaide Test, Nathan Lyon said that their contingent “still believes they can win the Test match”. With 20 odd overs to play in the final day, the very Lyon almost clinched it for his side.

Chasing an almost impossible 323, the Australian lower-order gave India a run for the money as they all chipped in decent partnerships. For the last 6 wickets, the Aussies partnered for 31, 41, 31, 41, 31 and 32 runs respectively.

For India, it was an all-round effort starting from Aussies first innings, as in India’s second innings the openers too made contributions while all the bowlers had their wicket tallies off the zero mark.

In all the three away wins(vs South Africa, Joburg; Vs England Trent Bridge; Vs Australia, Adelaide)that India registered this year Cheteshwar Pujara scored a 50+ at least.

The next Test in the four-game series will take place between the two sides in Perth on December 14-18.
