5:00 PM| The Railway Board on Wednesday approved the functioning of 39 new trains. Trains will run under special services. Most of the trains belong to the category of AC Express, Duronto, Rajdhani and Shatabdi. The date of operation of these additional trains is yet to be declared by the government.


4:00 PM| Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas, who is currently shooting for his upcoming Malayalam film, Kala, has been hospitalised. The Forensic actor got severely injured while shooting for an action sequence and he was taken to Renai Medicity Hospital in Kochi earlier this morning.


1:45 PM| A massive explosion took place in Odisha on Wednesday which ripped off a petrol station near Raj Bhavan. Efforts are underway by fire personnel to douse the flames. The reason behind the outbreak of fire is yet to be ascertained.


1:30 PM| Sushant Singh Rajput’s family lawyer, Vikas Singh, has written a letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), raising objections to the AIIIMS medical team report that ruled out the possibility of a murder in the actor’s death case.


12:15 PM| Actor Arjun Kapoor on Wednesday said he has tested negative for COVID-19, a month after contracting the virus. The 35-year-old actor was diagnosed with COVID-19 on September 6 and was in home quarantine since.


11:55 AM| The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that occupying public places like Shaheen Bagh for protests is not acceptable and such a space cannot be occupied “indefinitely”.


11:30 AM| Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda was granted bail by court in actor’s death case.


11:05 AM| The Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. The bail plea of Showik chakraborty has been rejected by the court.

Rhea, who was reportedly in a relationship with Sushant Singh Rajput, was arrested by the NCB on September 8, on charges of being an active member of a drug syndicate operating in Mumbai. Her brother Showik was arrested on September 4. Her bail plea was rejected by the special court, following which she has filed an appeal before the Bombay High Court.


10:20 AM| Edappadi K Palaniswami was announced as the chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming election in Tamil Nadu. The announcement was made by Deputy CM O Panneerselvam. Edappadi K Palaniswami also announced an 11-member steering committee for the 2021 Tamil Nadu elections.


10:00 AM| The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday extended the time given to the SIT, constituted to probe the Hathras incident, to submit its report by 10 days.


The Bombay High Court is likely to pronounce its order on the bail plea of actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and others in a drugs case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. A special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court in Mumbai had extended their judicial custody till October 20 on Tuesday.

A case has been registered against AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar after he visited the family of the woman who died after being allegedly gang-raped in Hathras. The AAP MLA from Kondli Assembly constituency met the family five days after he said he tested positive for Covid-19. The AAP MLA, however, claims he has tested negative.

Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Sugan area of Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning. According to J&K Police, the operation still underway.

India’s COVID-19 caseload rose to 67.57 lakh with 72,049 new cases in a day, while 57,44,693 people have recovered so far pushing the national recovery rate to 85.02%, according to the Union Health Ministry data this morning.

The COVID-19 case mortality rate has further declined to 1.55%.
