A 57-year-old Indian doctor was killed in his clinic in Kansas City in the United States on Wednesday.  Doctor, Achutha Reddy, a psychiatrist, was a resident of Nalgonda district of Telangana. He was found with multiple injuries in an alley behind his clinic late. A 21-year-old suspect was held by the Kansas City police in the case.

The assailant, identified as Umar Rashid Dutt, nabbed at the Wichita Country Club later in his blood stained clothes. Dutt’s mother is said to hail from Hyderabad and father from Bengaluru.

Reportedly, Dutt had gone to Reddy’s office for regular counselling. An argument erupted that led to the incident. Initially, Reddy managed to escape from the spot, but Dutt chased the doctor down an alley, and stabbed him multiple times.

The accused then went to the club where he was caught and later charged with first-degree murder.  The motive behind the murder was not established and the police are looking through the doctor’s records. Police said that the attack happened at around 7:20 pm (local time) on Wednesday.
