Several women have taken to social media to post their selfies out at midnight with the hashtag #AintNoCinderella after a senior politician has questioned why a woman, who was reportedly stalked, was out at the night.

In yet another instance of victim blaming, vice-president of Haryana BJP, Ramveer Bhatti, blamed the victim in the Chandigarh stalking case for driving “so late in the night”.

According to CNN-News18, Bhatti had said, “The girl should not have gone out at 12 in the night. Why was she driving so late in the night? The atmosphere is not right. We need to take care of ourselves.”

Here’s how women on twitter reacted over the remark:

Bhatti’s remarks come in the wake of the ongoing pressure from the opponent, on Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala’s resignation. Barala’s son is involved in the case of stalking and CCTV footage of the incident has already been gathered that shows the accused stalking the victim’s car.
