India’s first digitalised ward in Kerala’s Aymanam

Ward number 15 of Aymanam grama panchayat in Kerala’s Kottayam has become India’s first digitalised panchayat ward.

Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar inaugurated the website http://www.digitalaymanam.com at a function held at a temple premises in the village.

This small panchayat ward in Kerala has become the first one to go digital in the country, taking a very important step in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of transforming India into a digitally empowered society, Gurjar said.

The ward member Devaki teacher collected details of 423 families and 1,262 members in the ward and made them available in online. The website contains information about blood donors’ forum, telephone directory and others.

The Aadhaar number of each member has been linked to their mobile number. Ward members can also receive mobile alerts and voice messages in cases of emergency.

“The benefits of all panchayat projects will reach the people easily now. It will also make the implementation of the projects transparent,” Devaki teacher told media.
