Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) have finally announced the squad for the upcoming tour of England. As expected, Shubman Gill is in charge of the Test squad as the captain. He succeeds Rohit Sharma, who retired from Test cricket recently. Rishabh Pant has been named as Gill’s deputy, which means he is the vice-captain.

Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.
The press conference was preceded by a top-level meeting at the BCCI headquarters where the final decisions were taken. The meeting was attended by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, among other officials. Head coach Gautam Gambhir was notably absent from the discussions at the Mumbai headquarters.
