IPL 2026 Match Delhi: Delhi Police has shared a traffic advisory for April 4 because of the IPL 2026 match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. Delhi Traffic Police said people may face traffic jams, road diversions, and some movement restrictions on roads near the stadium.

In a post on X, Delhi Traffic Police said traffic is likely to stay heavy from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. People have been asked to plan their travel early and avoid the busy roads near the stadium if possible.

Traffic may start getting slow from the afternoon and become worse as match time comes closer. The heaviest rush is expected between 1 PM and 9 PM because that is when fans will be going to the stadium, the match will be going on, and people will leave after it ends. Even after the match, traffic may remain slow for some time because large crowds will be coming out together.

Police said some main roads may see the most traffic pressure. These include Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg from Delhi Gate to ITO on both sides, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg from Rajghat to Delhi Gate on both sides, and Asaf Ali Road from Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate.

Drivers are being advised to avoid these roads during busy hours and use other routes instead.

To ease pressure on match-day traffic, heavy and commercial vehicles will not be allowed on select stretches, including:

  • Daryaganj to Delhi Gate Chowk (BSZ Marg)
  • ITO to Delhi Gate Chowk (BSZ Marg)
  • Delhi Gate Chowk to Guru Nanak Chowk (JLN Marg)
  • Stadium entry routes for spectators

Visitors have been assigned entry points based on their ticketed gates:

  • Gate 1–8 (South Side): Via Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
  • Gate 10–15 (East Side): Via JLN Marg near Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal
  • Gate 16–18 (West Side): Via BSZ Marg near the petrol pump

Following designated routes will help avoid unnecessary delays.

Parking and Park & Ride facilities
Free parking will be available at:

  • Mata Sundari Road
  • Rajghat Power House Road
  • Velodrome Road

Shuttle buses under the Park & Ride system will operate from these points starting two hours before the match and continue until one hour after it ends.

Parking near the stadium will be restricted to vehicles with valid labels. Designated parking zones include:

  • P-1: JP Park (Gate 3)
  • P-2: Vikram Nagar (near Shahidi Park)
  • P-3: Near JJB/Prayas Office (two-wheelers)
  • General traffic rules in force
  • No parking on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, or Ring Road (Rajghat to I.P. Flyover)
  • Illegally parked vehicles will be towed and penalised
    Advisory for commuters

Delhi Traffic Police has asked people to stay away from the busy areas during peak time and leave early if they need to travel. They also said commuters should keep extra time in hand because roads near the stadium may stay crowded for hours.

People have been told to use other routes where they can. The advisory also said public transport is a better option on match day because it can help lower traffic on the roads.

To handle the rush, more traffic police staff will be on duty. Barricades and diversions will also be put in place to control traffic movement. Officials have told people to keep checking the Delhi Traffic Police’s official updates so they can know about jams, route changes, and other alerts in real time.
