Brijesh Sharma: Brijesh Sharma got a very big moment in his cricket life on 30 March 2026. He made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals in the team’s first match of the season against Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bowl first in the opening game for both sides. It was the first time Brijesh walked onto the field in the IPL, and that made the night special for the 27-year-old fast bowler.

He is an uncapped right-arm pacer from Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir. Rajasthan Royals bought him at the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi for his base price of INR 30 lakhs. What made his pick even more interesting was that he had still not played professional cricket at the time he was selected. That made the Royals’ move look like a strong bet on his future and raw talent.

Road to Big Stage

Before getting this IPL chance, Brijesh had shown good form in the 2025 Bengal Pro T20 League. He played for Malda Smashers and took 11 wickets in seven matches. He ended the tournament as one of the top wicket-takers, and that helped people notice him. Even though he did not have a big name yet, his bowling had started making people talk.

His cricket journey was not easy. Brijesh moved to Bengal because he was looking for better chances in the game, and he now represents the Bengal Cricket Association. Earlier, he had been part of the Jammu state setup, but he was dropped from there.

That setback could have ended things for many players, but he kept going and worked his way back. That difficult period became important in his growth as a cricketer. Training with coach Deepak Punia at Unique Sports Club in Delhi helped him become more disciplined and understand what higher-level cricket really needs.

Family Support

Brijesh also comes from a humble family background. His father works as a labourer, and the journey to this stage was not easy for them. He had help from family and friends during the hard times, and that support stayed with him when things were not going well.

Speaking to ANI, Brijesh said, “My journey has had its ups and downs I learnt a great deal about discipline and things I needed to bring to play cricket at a higher level.” He also said, “My father’s hard work has paid off my friends supported me financially and emotionally. They believed in me more than I did.”
