An Iranian teenager who is infamously known as ‘Zombie Angelina Jolie’ has been released from jail just days after being sentenced to ten years in prison.

According to the activists and campaigners involved in this incident, Sahar Tabar, 19, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand, from Tehran, was released on bail on Sunday. US-based Iranian activist Masih Alinejad confirmed that the release came after the ‘massive media pressure’.

Activist Masih also called on Angelina Jolie to help the Iranian 19-year-old girl who received 10 years prison sentence for using makeup & Photoshop to turn herself into Angelina.

The Islamic Republic has a history of tormenting women. We need to be united against this gender apartheid; Alinejad added.

Sahar Tabar came in limelight after posting her heavily doctored photos on Instagram. As per the Iranian Human Rights News Agency, Tabar has been jailed for obscenity and insulting the hijab.

Tabar has herself clear by saying ‘This is Photoshop and makeup. Every time I publish a photo, I paint my face in an increasingly funny way. It is a way of expressing yourself, a kind of art. My fans know that this is not my real face.’

She added: ‘I did not even think about being like Zombie Angelina Jolie. Also, I did not want to resemble the cartoon character the Corpse Bride.

‘Now I understand that I have something to do with them, but I am a muse myself, and remembering someone is not an end in itself.’

Notably, Instagram is the only major social media service available in Iran unlike Facebook, Twitter, and the Telegram messenger service which are officially banned in the Islamic Republic.
