ITO Skywalk: No bouncers anymore to stop lovebird

ITO skywalk which opened for the general public after its inauguration on October 16, had reportedly deployed bouncers to stop lovebirds, are not in action anymore.

“It is true that they were hired to prevent love couples from sitting or hanging out at the place but it was just a day affair,” said the security guard deployed there.

Bouncers were hired only on the inaugural day of the event apprehending the adventure to attract more people to stand atop in the mid of busy Income Tax Square and enjoy the beautiful sight in the air.

Speaking to Newsd, a security guard Pawan who hails from Lucknow, said that now there is no need of bouncers now and on the day of its inauguration it was a VIP event and therefore keeping the security measures they were hired for a day.

“There are 11 security guards on duty at a time and they work 8 hours a day and receive a monthly payment of 11000,” said a security guard anonymously to Newsd.

He was confronted by his colleague that they work for 12 hours daily and get this same amount and claimed that due to some media reports on their payment, they have been instructed strictly by the company to say the above-mentioned figures when asked by any press person.

Newsd looked for all possibility of any bouncers present at the spot between 3 pm to 6 pm and many commuters but there was no hint of their presence.

Despite its aesthetics and convenience to crossover from one side to other, people at large are not frequent about using it. Jasmeet a lawyer practicing at the Supreme Court said that the security guards didn’t allow them to stand and wait for the friends even, so we use the main roads and avoid taking the skywalk.

Pawan the security guard confirms the above allegations and said, “We are told not to allow anyone to stand or wait as there is a threat of property damage and one can steal the CCTV camera installed everywhere. One is stolen yesterday night.”

The skywalk has five exit points and it provides a panoramic view of the area was seen least crowed even at the peak hours.

The 400-meter long skywalk at ITO in central Delhi was inaugurated by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, in the presence of Delhi Lieutenant governor Anil Baijal and Bhartiya Janata Party Member of Parliament Meenakshi Lekhi.
