The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a key ally of the opposition Congress in Kerala, has officially nominated senior advocate Haris Beeran for the Rajya Sabha seat from the state. The announcement was made by IUML state chief Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal in the presence of senior party leaders.

Thangal remarked, ‘We have held detailed discussions among our senior leaders, MLAs, and MPs, and have unanimously decided to nominate senior advocate Haris Beeran as the UDF candidate.’ This nomination comes despite reports of dissatisfaction from the Youth League regarding Beeran’s candidature.
