IVF coverage in India: IVF in India is no longer something rare or unusual. More and more couples are now turning to this treatment as lifestyle changes, late marriages and rising infertility have made the demand grow very fast. Today, IVF clinics are opening not only in big cities but also in smaller towns.
The success rate has improved with medical progress, but cost is still a huge worry. One cycle of IVF usually costs between ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh, and many couples need more than one cycle. Because of this, money remains the biggest challenge for most people.

Insurance for IVF?
Health insurance companies in India have not been very supportive of IVF for a long time. They mostly treated it as an optional choice rather than a basic medical need. But with demand rising and people asking for coverage, some insurance have started giving partial support for IVF.
This coverage usually comes with strict rules like paying only for certain infertility causes, limiting how many cycles are allowed, or fixing a maximum amount they will pay. This makes it very important for couples to read the terms properly.
Limits and Exclusions
Even when an insurance company says it will cover IVF, there are many restrictions hidden inside the plan. Many of these policies make couples wait for two to four years before they can actually use the IVF benefit.
if infertility is caused by a pre-existing medical condition, then it may not be covered at all. Some insurers pay only for doctor consultations, medical tests or medicines, but not the IVF procedure itself. So couples often still need to pay a big part of the cost on their own, even after buying a policy that shows IVF coverage.

Other Ways to get Support
Because insurance is not always helpful, couples are looking at other ways to handle the big cost. Some private banks and even fertility clinics are giving EMI finance options so that the payment becomes a bit easier to manage. A few state governments and big companies have also started health programs that give some support for IVF treatment.
These schemes are not very common yet, but they show a change in thinking, as more people now see infertility treatment as an important part of healthcare and not just a side expense.
