Jet Airways, a major international airline based in Mumbai, has cancelled 14 of its flights across destinations on Sunday. Reportedly, pilots called in sick as they were not paid their dues.
The airline has been defaulting on salaries of its senior management including engineers and pilots for the last 4 months.
As quoted by PTI, sources said, “At least 14 flights have been cancelled so far due to some pilots reporting sick.”
The flights were cancelled because of unforeseen circumstances and not from pilots’ non-cooperation, said Jet Airways in a statement.
The sources further stated, “They are protesting against non-payment of salary, dues and the indifferent attitude of the National Aviator’s Guild (NAG) in taking up the issue with the management”.
National Aviator’s Guild is a pilots body of Jet Airways.
