In a shocking revelation made by CID, it has been confirmed that Minhaz Ansari of Jharkhand was tortured to death by Police in 2016, for posting a picture on WhatsApp group with beef. Police official Harish Pathak of Narayanpur police station has been found guilty in the case of attempt to murder.

As per the CID’s recent investigation and post-mortem report, it has been confirmed that Minhaz Ansari was beaten after being taken to Narayanpur police station. After thrashing the detained, the health of Minhaz had worsened. He was then taken to Sadar Hospital in Jamtara district. From there, the doctors had referred him to the PMCH Hospital in Dhanbad. Jamtara police had claimed that the death of Minhaz was due to mental sickness.

On October 2, 2016, Minhaz had posted a picture of him with meat on a WhatsApp group. In the entire case, Narayanpur police station had said that the meat was prohibited, and a complaint was lodged against Ansari. After this, the police had taken Minhaz into custody on October 3, 2016. During the custody Minhaz’s health suddenly got worse and went on to deteriorating following his death.

Later the father of deceased, Omar Mian had lodged a case of murder against Police constable, Harish Pathak.

The death case of Ansari had garlanded nation-wide attention and empathy following which, The Union Home Ministry had ordered the state government to investigate into the matter two years back.

Now the CID is preparing to file the charge sheet soon against Harish Pathak.
