Hardik Patel has been sentenced two years of jail as Gujrat court has found him guilty of creating violence during the 2015 riots case linked to the Patel quota movement.

He has been held guilty in the case of vandalizing the office of BJP legislator Rushikesh Patel in Visnagar three years ago.

Apart from the two-year jail term, Hardik Patel has also been quoted with Rs 50,000 fine.

Out of the 17 accused in the case, 3 were held guilty and 14 were let off by the court. Besides Hardik, SPG President Lalji Patel and AK Patel have also been reported to be held guilty. Lalji Patel has been sentenced to two years in jail and fined Rs 50,000.

Patel has maintained that the actions against him are part of political vendetta on the part of the ruling BJP party.

Hardik Patel is one of the most prominent faces of the Patidar reservation movement, due to which there was massive state-wide unrest in 2015 in Gujarat.
