Pakur: Disillusioned by the Panchayati Raj System, 40 seats remained vacant after the nomination process for the Panchayat by-polls in the district of Jharkhand state got over. The three-tier Panchayat bye-election is due on December 19.

The Jharkhand government has announced the bye-elections for 74 vacant seats of ward members, 4 Mukhiya posts, and six Panchayat Samiti members post in Pakur district. Peoples lack of interests is a major reason for such vacant seats where after enrolment date was over no nominations were filed by anyone in the district for the panchayat bye-election.

A total of 34 ward members’ seat, one Mukhiya seat and five Panchayat Samiti members seat will remain vacant because there has been no nomination filed by anyone.

On December 19, voting will be held by ballot paper in the district block of Taranagar, Chanchki and Maheshpur’s Chhakkudhara Panchayat.
