Hariyali Teej 2023

Kajari Teej 2023: This time of the year has arrived. In India, Teej is commemorated annually with great pomp and splendour. Teej is the time when devotees observe a morning-to-night fast to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and seek blessings for the longevity and prosperity of their spouses and family members. Teej is typically observed by the married women of the family.Recently, Hariyali Teej was observed, and now it is time for Kajari Teej. The celebration of Kajari Teej occurs fifteen days after Hariyali Teej, three days after Raksha Bandhan, and five days after Krishna Janmashtami.

On September 2 of this year, Kajari Teej will be celebrated. According to conventional belief, King Dadurai and his queen frequently visited a forest called Kajali. People would sing Kajari songs to satisfy the king and queen. As a result of the king’s passing and the queen’s sati, the forest became a symbol of their enduring love. Since then, Kajari Teej has been celebrated as a festival meant to strengthen the bond between husband and wife.

Dos and Don’ts for Kajari Teej 2023

As we prepare to celebrate Kajari Teej, here are some fasting dos and don’ts to keep in mind:

  • The fast of Nirjala is observed during this festival. Lord Shiva, the Goddess Parvati, and the Goddess Neemdi are venerated. To seek the graces of the gods, married women rise early in the morning, bathe, and commence a fast.
  • Nirjla fasting is the practise of not ingesting a single morsel of food or drop of liquid during the fasting period. It can be challenging for newlyweds to observe the nirjala fast for the entire day.
  • It is recommended to avoid the radiation and remain indoors. Consuming fruit juice or taking intermittent sips of water can hydrate the body.
  • On Kajari Teej, women should not break their fast before seeing the moon.
