Karnataka: 45-year-old man took river route to avoid cops, drowns

The man ended up drowning and it cost him his life. The incident took place in Krishna.

As the coronavirus pandemic is taking over the world and the nation has been put under the lockdown, people are trying their ways to get back their villages and one such incident came into the highlight as a 45-year-old bus conductor decide to swim to his village which was just 1 km away. The man ended up drowning and it cost him his life. The incident took place in Krishna.

The man is identified as Malappa Bommanagi and his body was found near Amargol in Vijayapur district on Wednesday. The man used to work at the NEKRTC’s Ballari de[pot for the past 12 years and he was stopped by the police at Tangadagi check-post in Muddebihal (Vijayapura) on Tuesday when he was returning with his wife and five-month-old daughter.

The Police reportedly said that Mallappa to task for stepping out during the lockdown, and after an argument, allowed his wife and child to go home. Parasappa said police thrashed Mallappa for arguing with them and refused to let him pass.

Mallappa Maddi, SI, did not comment on the allegations of a face-off or thrashing.
