Rekha V (18), a girl from Karnataka who left home after her mother asked her to get married scored 90.3% in the recently announced II PU examination results. Also, the girl is determined to become an IAS officer.

Rekha, a resident of Kotturu village in Chillabakkapura district left home two years ago after she scored 74% in SSLC exam. Her mother and his family members started forcing her to get married but Rekha was against child marriage and ran away from her home. She landed up in Bengaluru with one of her friends. But she was not satisfied with the computer course she opted for and then she called a child helpline 1098 to seek help in continuing her education. Following which the members of the child welfare committee (CWC) visited her Hebbal PG and shifted her to Sparsha Trust in Mathikere. There also helped her to get a seat in Government PU College in Gollahalli.

After this struggling journey, she finally got the fruit of it on April 18 when the PU results came and she scored 542/600. Also, she scored 100% in history. Now, Rekha wants to study further and pursue a BA in history, economics, and political science.

The managing trustee of Sparsha Trust said that she was determined and focused and was rescued by CWC after she sought their help.  He also said that “We are proud of her achievement.

Rekha is very clear about her future. She wants to become an advocate and then wants to appear for the civil service exam.
