An army major was killed while three others including another officer and two soldiers were wounded in an ongoing gunfight with the militants in Bidoora village in Achabal area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag districton Monday.
Going by the reports, officer identified as Rahul Verma was killed and two other personnel sustained injuries during the fresh exchange of gunfight.
The injured have been rushed to the 92 base hospital of the Army in Srinagar.
Earlier state forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area this morning. The search operation led to a gunfight after the militants fired on the forces, who retaliated
