Kerala Floods: Centre assures to enhance borrowing limit; CM meets World Bank for aid

Getting back to live, flood-ravaged Kerala is now focusing on rebuilding, the Centre has said it would favourably consider the state’s demand to enhance the borrowing limit. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan held a discussion with World Bank officials as a part of efforts for resource mobilization where he said that the World Banks help was necessary to rebuild the state.

Causing a massive damage, the flood has destroyed the roads and bridges. Even the small traders and businessmen face grave crisis making only present bank schemes insufficient for the development work. The CM also requested the World Bank to extend help for the state.

The Centre has also assured the flood-hit state to increase the support and fund as the fresh memorandum on the loss and damage comes. According to the preliminary estimate, the loss and the damage was recorded to of Rs 20,000 crore due to flood and the chief minister had said that more losses and damagesw are yet to be recorded.
