Kerala: Kunjikkavu Amma receive pension for the first time at age of 104

According to Amma’s relatives, the lack of documents to prove her age was being a hurdle in getting the pension. But Thomas then informed them that only Aadhaar Card and ration card are necessary to get the pension.

Kunjikkavu Amma from Kerela’s Muriyad received the pension for the very first time at the age of 104. This came to the notice of Thomas Thokalathu during the local body election campaign that Pullor Mullakkad native Kunjikkavu Amma was not receiving any senior citizens’ pension.

Hearing this, Thomas gathered all the necessary papers required and filled an application through the Akshaya center. Thomas is a public representative and now a ward member. 

According to Amma’s relatives, the lack of documents to prove her age was being a hurdle in getting the pension. But Thomas then informed them that only Aadhaar Card and ration card are necessary to get the pension.

As per Mathrubhumi, Kunjikkavu Amma has been living with her daughter-in-law Sarojam and grandchildren after the death of her husband and son.

On Tuesday afternoon, a representative of the cooperative bank handed over the pension of Rs 1500 to Kunjikkavu Amma in the presence of Thomas at her home.
