A woman under observation of coronavirus gave birth through a cesarean section at 11 PM on Sunday, March 22, 2020 to a baby boy.

Kerala: Woman suspected of COVID-19 gives birth to baby boy

A woman under observation of coronavirus gave birth to a baby boy in the Kannur region and in a special ward for patients with suspected COVID-19. She gave birth through a cesarean section at 11 PM on Sunday, March 22, 2020.

A few days ago, she was taken to Kannur Government Hospital. The woman felt delivery pain on Sunday night and was taken to the special operation theatre after having performed all the necessary examinations.

The operation was led by Dr. Shabnam and under the supervision of Dr. S. Ajith, Gynecology department head.

All senior doctors including Medical superintendent, Pediatrician and Anesthesiologist were present in the operating room in case of any emergency.

The baby, who weighs 2.9 kg, was isolated in a specially prepared ICU. Both mother and child are healthy.

The woman who returned from Qatar on March 20 and was taken to Kannur Medical College Hospital due to pregnancy and her test results will be out soon by doctors.
