Kolkata Durga Puja 2023: Chandrayaan-3 will descend to a Kolkata Durga Puja marquee, where its organizers will replicate India’s successful moon mission to captivate pandal-hoppers. In the pandal, the deity will be depicted standing inside a replica of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft ‘Vikram’. In addition, a miniature of the rover ‘Pragyan’ will be present.

“We intend to observe Durga Puja in this manner. Anirban Roy, a member of Netaji Sporting Club, told PTI, “We wanted to demonstrate our respect for all ISRO scientists and how proud we all are of their accomplishment.”

The ambitious third Moon mission of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) landed on the Moon’s south pole on August 23, making India the first nation to arrive on the Moon’s uncharted surface. The puja committee has named the motif ‘Chandralok-e Uma’ (Durga on the Moon). Roy stated that the concept for the club’s motif was conceived by all club members, who did not employ an artist to give their idea form.

After entering the pandal, one will see a replica of the rocket, used by ISRO for carrying out the Chandrayaan-3 mission, on top of the entrance gate. The visitor will then enter a tunnel to reach the goddess’s primary location. On the tunnel’s walls will be displayed photographs of various scientists alongside biographical information about them.

When people finally enter the main’mandap,’ they will be able to see the impact of Vikram on one side and the view of the earth from the moon on the other, courtesy of visual effects. Alongside Vikram, the replica of the rover Pragyan will also be installed. Roy stated that people will experience as if they are on the moon’s surface and gazing at the lander. While artist Nemai Pal creates the traditional statue of the deity Durga, the pandal is designed by the puja’s organizers. Numerous puja organizers in West Bengal select a theme annually, which is typically a social issue, and depict it with their pandals, idols, and illumination arrangements.
