Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the two-time IPL winners are owned by Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, actress Juhi Chawla and her spouse Jay Mehta. Last year, KKR qualified for the playoffs, defeating the Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator, but then lost to the Sunrisers in the second playoff.
The Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their campaign against last year’s runners-up, the SunRisers Hyderabad on March 24. The team had bought eight players, spending the most on Windies all-rounder Carlos Braithwaite (Rs 5 crore) and Kiwis pacer Lockie Ferguson (Rs 1.6 crore).
Last year, KKR eliminated Rajasthan Royals in the first playoff match while they lost to last year’s runners-up SunRisers Hyderabad. Led by Dinesh Karthik, KKR will mainly rely on the players who performed well last season as they have retained 13 of its players.

Allrounders:
KKR already have retained Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Nitish Rana in their squad and had also bought West Indies hard hitter and pace bowler Carlos Brathwaite who can prove to be the most important asset for the team.
Batsmen:
Skipper Dinesh Karthik, Shubhman Gill and Robin Uthappa are among the top Indian batsmen retained by the team. Robin Uthappa can be considered to open the batting for the team while Chris Lynn who is also retained by the team, will be his partner as per last season.
Bowlers:
KKR have strengthened their all-round and pace department through buying Carlos Brathwaite and Lockie Ferguson. The pace duo of Shivam Mavi and Prasidh Krishna will look to continue their fine run of form as well.
Among the spinners, KKR have chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine and Piyush Chawla which makes the spin bowling department of KKR as one of the best across all the IPL teams.
