Korha (SC) Assembly Constituency 2025:
Korha is an assembly constituency in Katihar district, in northeastern Bihar. It is reserved for Scheduled Castes.
The Korha tehsil (sub-district) is located about 22 km northwest of Katihar town, at an elevation of ~24 meters above sea level. It lies just north of the Ganges River and downstream of the Kosi River’s confluence. It is connected via NH-31, which turns into the Barauni-Purnea Highway in that region.
Voters and Local Issues
As per the 2011 Census, the Korha sub-district had about 282,813 inhabitants, with ~54,527 households. Literacy in that sub-district was low, around 50%, while the “village proper” had higher literacy (≈69%). The constituency is SC reserved, so the Scheduled Castes community is a core voter base.
Some of the recurring concerns in the constituency and Katihar district more generally are:
1. Flooding / river‐erosion: Because of its proximity to major rivers (Kosi, Ganges etc.), seasonal flooding and erosion cause damage to land, homes, infrastructure.
2. Infrastructure & connectivity: Roads, bridges, quality of public services (health, education) are often cited. For example, government has recently approved block/circle office buildings (including for Korha) under development plans.
3. Basic welfare / ration / social scheme delivery: Voters often demand proper ration distribution, access to welfare schemes, and more accountability.
4. Employment / migration: Being a rural and semi‐urban area, lack of stable local jobs causes migration; agriculture supports many, but smallholder farmers face issues like flood losses, poor irrigation, lack of market access. (While specific recent data for Korha is partial, this is common in Katihar region.)
