Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Congress president Rahul Gandhi launches party manifesto; know details

A week shy of the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019, Congress president Rahul Gandhi released party manifesto on Tuesday.

Gandhi has been vocal on issues such as The Nyay Scheme, GST reforms, jobs etc and the party manifesto was expected to incorporate.

Speaking at the event, P. Chidambaram, who chaired the Congress Manifesto Committee, said the manifesto “addresses the interests of farmers, industry, Dalits, minorities, workers, women”.

The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases between April 11 and May 19.

Withdraw Transgender Bill 2018

A week shy of the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019, Congress president Rahul Gandhi released party manifesto on Tuesday.

In its manifesto Congress party has included a section for “Rights of LGBTQIA+” community. The grand old party has promised to “immediately withdraw” the Transgender Bill, 2018, which is currently pending in the parliament. Besides, the party has instead said in its manifesto that they will drat new Bill in “consultation with the LGBTQIA+ community.” The party will introduce a Bill, consistent with the judgement in the NALSA case, if voted back to power.
