Lok Sabha Polling for the third phase began on Tuesday April 23 in 116 seats, including all constituencies in Gujarat and Kerala, with BJP president Amit Shah, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and several Union Ministers among prominent candidates in the fray.

Besides all seats in Gujarat (26) and Kerala (20), voting will be held in four seats in Assam, five in Bihar, seven in Chhattisgarh, 14 each in Karnataka and Maharashtra, six in Odisha, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, five in West Bengal, two in Goa, and one each in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Tripura.

Among the seats will be a solitary seat from Tripura, Tripura East, where elections were delayed by one phase due to security reasons. With the third phase covering four seats of Assam and one of Tripura, elections in the Northeastern states will come to an end.

Seven voters have died in Kerala during the voting across different polling stations. One voter died after he came to know his name was not in the voter list.  Another Marar Venugopala passed away after he returned home after voting.

12:45 PM | Snake found inside VVPAT machine in Kannur; voting halted

Voting was halted for a brief time at Kerala’s Kannur Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday afternoon after a snake was found inside the VVPAT machine, triggering panic among the officials and voters. However, the reptile was removed soon and voting continued.

10:00 AM | Delhi BJP MP Udit Raj threatens to quit

BJP’s sitting MP from Northwest Delhi Udit Raj has threatened to resign from the BJP at 10 am. Reports have been doing rounds that BJP may not re-nominate him. Raj has said he will wait till 10 am and if the party doesn’t decide by then, he may quit the BJP and contest as an independent.
