Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Rashtriya Janata Dal releases poll manifesto, promises to legalise toddy

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday released party manifesto for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The manifesto was released in Patna, Tejashwi was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha.

In their manifesto titled ‘Pratibadhata Patra’, the party promised to legalise toddy. The RJD manifesto promises that if the party win in Bihar, it will remove the ban on toddy. Tejashwi added that their position on the topic has been different since the very beginning. “When my father Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Chief Minister of Bihar, he had made toddy tax-free,” the leader said.

RJD further promised to provide reservations to Dalits and the backward classes in proportion to their population. The party said that it’ll implement Mandal Commission and that if it rises to power the promotions for reserved category in government jobs will continue. The party also promises to fill all vacant government posts and implement the 200-point roster system.

The elections in Bihar will take place across all seven phases, with the first phase taking place on April 11. In the first phase, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada and Jamui will go for polls.
