Bhopal: Two men, including a private security guard, gang-raped a class 12 student in the BHEL area under the Govindpura police station in Bhopal on Saturday. The Bhopal Police kept the news under wraps even as the two accused were arrested and produced in court the same day and sent to judicial custody.

A police remand was not sought because the two accused had already confessed to committing the crime. The crime happened at a desolate spot where the victim had gone with her friend.

While the two were chatting, the accused attacked them with sticks, forced them to pose nude and took their pictures and a video. The accused then asked the boy to get them Rs 5,000 failing which they threatened to show their obscene pictures and videos to their family members, police said.

The boy accompanying the girl left the spot on his scooter to get Rs 5,000 as demanded by the accused after he returned he saw the victim, while narrating her ordeal to her friend, said that the two accused took turns to rape her.

The victims initially were not ready to approach the police nor put up a complaint but the boy’s friend who gave him Rs 5,000 accompanied him to the spot and convinced them to lodge a complaint.

After the medical examination of the victim, the two accused were arrested from their respective houses which were within 500 meters of the crime spot.

The two accused have been identified as Rambabu Suryavanshi aged around 35 years who works as a private security guard in the area and Rakesh Rajput aged around 45 years who works with a private contractor in the BHEL area.

While Suryavanshi is a father of three Rajput is a father of two minor children, police said. Bhopal IG Irshad Wali, however, claimed that a kidnapping and loot case would be added in the FIR if the victim claims so in her complaint.

Police also claimed that they would investigate if the two accused had done the same kind of crime by preying upon other young lovers meeting in the area in the past.
