Ahead of Madhya Pradesh assembly polls 2018, Congress party who is exploring best possible candidates for the electoral battle is in loggerheads within the party. Two senior Congress leaders Digvijaya Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia had a heated argument over candidates’ selection in presence of Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi, who was chairing the central election committee (CEC) meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday. After the whole incident, party members have been told to remain united, said a senior Congress leader.

After the whole incident, Rahul Gandhi has expressed his anger over the episode and has made three members committee including senior leaders Ashok Gehlot, Veerappa Moily and Ahmed Patel to solve the issue.

According to sources, Digvijaya Singh, who is controlling overall tickets distribution of Congress in Madhya Pradesh is creating a hurdle for Scindia camp, as Singh is not showing interest in providing opportunities to the Scindia supporters for the assembly election. Specifically, Malwa region, where Digvijaya Singh is single-handedly controlling the whole distribution has irked Scindia, which could be a major reason for the heated argument, sources claimed.

However, Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesperson, Shobha Oza has denied the incident and stated that “There is no infighting within the party and Congress is united under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi”.
