Shortage of money hit a farmer’s family in Madhya Pradesh so hard that they were reduced to make use of the two daughters of the family instead of oxen to pull the plough across the farmland. This incident is reported from Sehore’s Basantpur Pangri village, where the farmer, Sardar Kahla claimed that his family does not have enough money to buy or take care of oxen for ploughing.

“I do not have enough money to buy or take care of bulls for ploughing. Both my daughters quit their schooling due to financial crisis,” said the farmer, reported Hindustan Times. However, as the news broke, District Public Relation Officer (DPRO) Ashish Sharma said that the administration is looking forward into the matter and a proper help would be given to him under governmental schemes.

“The farmer has been instructed not to use children for such activities. Whatever help he can be given under governmental schemes, the administration is looking into it,” Sharma said.

Farmer’s adolescent daughters, Radhika, 14 and Kunti, 11, had to give up education due to financial crunch.

This news comes soon after the recent protest by the farmers demanding loan waiver from the government. Notably, several farmers have committed suicide in the state due to financial crisis.
