Madhya Pradesh Viral Video: A video clip showing a dead cow being dragged by garbage collection vehicle in the Betul district of Madhya Pradesh for about a kilometer has stirred a wave of public anger. The incident from Jhallar Gram Panchayat also sparked a protest from local people, cow protection groups and political workers. The viral clip is being shared on social media.
A garbage truck can be seen dragging a dead cow by a rope on the roads of the village. Netizens had condemned the incident, with many calling it humiliating and urging strict action against those involved.

According to local officials, the cow allegedly died after it was run over by an unknown vehicle on Paratwada Road. It was found to be stray, so its owner could not be traced. Local officials revealed that the carcass lay on the side of the road for about two days and then it started decaying and was creating a hygiene and public health issue.

They also revealed that sanitation workers were unable to get any help with a tractor or trolley. So, the carcass was tied to the vehicle and taken for disposal using the village garbage vehicle. A bystander recorded the entire thing and put it on social media, which subsequently went viral.
Local people have expressed anguish and anger, with several cow protection organisations lambasting the village administration and sanitation workers for allegedly treating the animal with utter disrespect even after its death. “There should be dignity and respect for the cow even in its dead state. This video is very disappointing,” said Rashtriya Hindu Sena members.

Panchayat’s Clarification
Manish Narware, Sarpanch of Jhallar Gram Panchayat, admitted the incident, adding that due to the unavailability of a tractor for transportation at that time, their garbage vehicle had to be used. “The garbage vehicle driver, Nikhil Baraskar, has been issued a notice. An investigation has been launched. Later, the animal was properly disposed of,” Narware informed.
The Gram Panchayat will now conduct an inquiry into the incident to determine whether protocol for disposing of the carcasses was followed or not. The probe will help find whether there was any negligence. The incident has now reignited discussions on waste management practices and animal in rural areas.
