Maratha Kranti Morcha has decided to end their ongoing protest. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, protessters said that they wanted Mumbaikars to return their home safely.

“We only wanted to prove that we are together. We never wanted protests to get violent,” the groups told the press as they decided to end the strike on Wednesday.

This comes a day after large-scale violence marred the agitation, leading to the death of a constable and nine other policemen injured amid suicide attempt by three agitators.

The organisation will meet later today to discuss the future course of action. Meanwhile, heavy police have been deployed in the capital of Maharashtra and its adjacent areas to prevent any untoward situation.

Maratha Kranti Morcha had been holding protest, demanding quota in government jobs and education for Marathas along with martyr status for protestor Kakasaheb Shinde who jumped to his death in Godavari River near Aurangabad on Monday, and an apology from Fadnavis government.
