15 vacant posts spread across the municipal corporations in Navi Mumbai, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan-Dombivali, Pune, Kolhapur, Nashik, Malegaon, Parbhani and Chandrapur will also be filled through the by-elections, for which the counting is underway.

Bypolls for zilla parishad, panchayat samiti and municipal corporation seats in Maharashtra were held on Sunday. The results of the same would be declared by the State Election Commission (SEC) today. The counting of votes is slated to begin at 10:00am. A total of 9 zilla parishad seats and 16 panchayat samiti seats were contested in the bypolls held in the seven districts of Raigad, Pune, Hingoli, Ahmednagar, Wardha, Bhandara and Gondia.

The BJP-Sena combine, which is ruling Maharashtra in a coalition for the last 5 years, has formed a pre-poll pact to contest the upcoming elections. The alliance has set a target of 220+.
