Malkangiri Airport Set for Inauguration: In January, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will open the first airport in the state that was built and is run by the Odisha government. It is in the southern district of Malkangiri.

From soon on, regular trips will connect the state’s farthest area. Vineel Krishna, who is the special secretary to the CM, said on the social media site X on Monday that the chief minister will land at Malkangiri Airport and open it in early January.

Sources say that the state government will give financial help to companies so that people can afford to buy plane seats. The first flying operations are planned to start between Malkangiri and Bhubaneswar. Sources say that the government also wants to set up flights between Malkangiri and Visakhapatnam.

Even though Malkangiri Airport doesn’t have any high-tech features, it will have a “landing T” that tells planes from the ground which way to land, and a windsock that shows the pilot the direction and speed of the wind quickly.

Few airport delays so far in the busiest holiday travel season in years

A source said that the runway at the airport will be 1,500 meters long and 30 meters wide. It can handle small planes like the Koraput. The state already has six airports that are open and running, and Malkangiri’s arrival will make it seven.
