Mohali: An appalling incident was reported from Nayagaon where a heated argument between the ex-boyfriend and current lover of a girl led to the former killing the latter.

The accused is identified as Mohit (20) along with his two friends Gaurav also known as Gota (21) and Ranjeet Singh has been booked for murder.

According to a report, the crime took place on Monday night when the accused along with his friends had gone to the girlfriend’s place with a cake to celebrate her birthday. Upon reaching her home, he found Rakesh the new lover of the girl who was staying with her from the past two days.

Reportedly, there was a heated argument between the two and in utmost rage, Mohit along with his two friends slit Rakesh’s throat and killed him.

The murder came to light when Rakesh did not return to his house in Baalongi and his relatives reached the girl’s home looking for him only to see him lying on the bed bleeding, informed inspector Gurwant Singh.

He also mentioned that the deceased was staying at the girl’s house for two days and the girl was not present at the time of the incident. On Monday, the accused, along with his two friends came to the girl’s house to celebrate her birthday. On finding, his new lover there, they killed him.

A case has been registered under section 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at Nayagaon Police Station.
