Mandira Bedi was born to Verinder Singh and Gita Bedi on 15 April 1972 in Kolkata. She has an older sibling who invests in banks. She graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, after attending Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai, and St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She completed her graduate studies at Sophia Polytechnic College in Mumbai.

In 1994, Mandira made her acting debut in the renowned Doordarshan television series Shanti.
