Kangana Ranaut starrer film Manikarnika has gathered a good collection of 8.75 crores on its opening day and it witnessed a massive growth on the republic day holiday by collecting Rs 18.10 crore on the second day. The film collection doesn’t seem to slow down as it collected 15.70 crores on the third day which was a Sunday thereby bringing the total of 42.55 crores, almost near to the 50 crore mark.
The film has been in news for its delay and controversies surrounding it and was released a day before republic day on 25th January 2019. It is based on Rani Laxmibai, who fought till her last breath against the East India Company and the British to prevent her kingdom of Jhansi from falling into their hands. The film has gained mixed reviews but the critics have applauded Kangana for her immense acting and portrayal of Rani Laxmibai.
Kangana has yet again managed to do impossible possible by shattering box office records with Manikarnika.
She has proved once again that why she is the stellar versatile performer and reigning queen of Bollywood with her outstanding portrayal of Rani Lakshmi Bai in the film which has been loved by the critics and the audiences.
The film has beaten all odds and competition to emerge as an unbeatable winner at box office. It has set the cash registers ringing at box office.
Total weekend collection till now has been 43 crores domestic and 12 crores(more after US & CAN final reports) globally overseas making it a 50+ crore weekender which is fantastic and amazing. With schools queuing up for screenings from Monday, the weekdays ahead also look fruitful in the coming week.
Manikarnika is also the debut of Ankita Lokhande, who was seen playing the role of Jhalkaribai, a soldier who rose through the ranks in Rani Laxmibai’s army to become a prominent advisor. The film is directed by Kangana Ranaut and Krish Jagarlamudi.
