Maryland Man Wins ₹5 Crore Jackpot: A father from Ellicott City has captured global attention after winning a massive ₹5 crore lottery jackpot all because he changed one small habit he had followed for years.
The man, identified only by the nickname “Multi-Match Maniac,” won nearly $570,000 (around ₹5 crore) in the Maryland Multi-Match lottery after deciding to personally check his ticket numbers instead of quickly scanning them at a store machine, according to reports.
The unexpected jackpot has now become more than just a lucky win. The father says the money will primarily go toward paying for his daughter’s college education something he described as the “biggest victory” of all.

For years, the Maryland resident had followed the same routine whenever he bought lottery tickets. Like many regular players, he relied on store scanners to quickly check whether he had won anything.
But this time, he broke that habit. “For some reason this time, I looked up the winning numbers,” he said. Instead of rushing through it, the man went through the whole thing slowly, he checked the numbers himself at home, and then realized, every number matched perfectly. The winning set was reportedly 02, 06, 08, 12, 29, and 38.
That left him pretty stunned. As the media said, he was so overwhelmed at first that he didn’t claim the prize for almost a month. He wanted a little time to settle the shock in his head, and also talk out some financial planning with his family before coming forward publicly.
In the same drawing, 15 people won the second-highest prize of $1,000 by matching five of six numbers in one row. One additional player won a $2,000 prize for matching 10 of 18 total numbers on the ticket.

Daughter’s Education Becomes Top Priority
Even though lottery jackpots often pull people toward luxury cars and extravagant getaways, the Maryland father had something else on his mind. “That’s my favorite part of all of this,” he said
He revealed that a significant portion of the money would be used to fund his daughter’s college education. He also plans to save and invest part of the remaining amount for the family’s future.
The winner reportedly chose a lump-sum payout of around $320,000 after taxes instead of receiving the full amount over time.
