Days after social activist Shabnam Hashmi threatened to be killed by a man posing as a police official, the Delhi Minorities Commission has issued a notice to the national capital’s police. The Delhi Police has already detained man in link with the case after Hashmi reported the matter to the Commissioner.

The chairman of Delhi Minorities Commission, Zafarul Islam Khan, confirmed the notice to Delhi police in link with the threat received by Hashmi. He also said a forensic test was required to identify the man who threatened Hashmi over phone.

“I have issued a notice to the Delhi police, through the Commissioner of Police, for a fair investigation into Shabnam Hashmi’s matter,” he said.

Newsd has earlier reported that an alleged ‘Sub Inspector’ in Delhi Police can be heard saying in an audio clip to Hashmi that he can shoot anyone who doesn’t have an Aadhaar card or any other ID proof.  The officer on call even says that the police have an “Abhiyaan” to “ghero and maaro” (surround and kill) anyone without Aadhaar card or ID proof. When asked who is running the Abhiyaan, the officer says, it has been directed to all police stations.

When Newsd contacted Hashmi, she authenticated the audio recording, but the identity of the policeman was yet to be known.
