MP govt set to bring in law to award death penalty to rapists

Madhya Pradesh government will bring in law for awarding death penalty to rapists in the forthcoming monsoon session said, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday. Chouhan said, MP government will propose a bill in the monsoon session of the assembly in which there will be a provision for death penalty in the place of jail term for rapists.

He also added that after the bill is passed in the state, it will be directed to the Centre and to the President.

The CM also hinted that MP might go for an anti-Romeo squad like Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized that police should teach a lesson to those who harass women.

Notably, MP continues to be the most unsafe place for women. The crime like sexual violence is constantly increasing against women and is a major concern now.

As per the latest data, 12 women are raped in MP, every day.
