Mumbai‘s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport(CSMIA) on December 9 managed 1,004 flight movements to better its previous record of 1,003.

Reportedly, the record was broken as the pre-wedding celebration of Isha Ambani, the daughter of India’s richest person Mukesh Ambani was set to take place in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

A flurry of movie stars, politicians and corporate tycoons flew in their private jets to attend the function which kicked off on December 8.

As quoted by PTI a spokesperson said, “Mumbai airport handled a record 1,004 flights in a single day on Saturday. The earlier best for the airport was 1,003 arrivals and departures which was achieved on June 5.”

They further added that almost 903 scheduled, eight charter, 59 non-scheduled and 31 freighters and three military flights were in-all taken care off by CSMIA.

The earlier record of June 5 occurred due to multiple flight diversions that took place from Delhi to Mumbai following a dust storm in the National Capital.
