A Muslim man alleged on Wednesday in Haryana’s Gurugram, that he was assaulted and forced to shave his beard and brutally thrashed by some unknown men on the suspicion of him being a Pakistani citizen. The police has lodged an FIR against and has started investigating the matter.
The incident took place at Sector 37 of Gurugram, when a group of people grabbed Muslim man identified as Zafaruddin, and mucked the victim with derogating comments. The miscreants suspected Zafaruddin to be Pakistani, and forced him to visit nearby barber and shave the beard. When denied by the barber, the gang assaulted the hairdresser as well as Zafaruddin, and later forcibly cut the beard off.
This is not the first incident when Muslim community was assaulted by some anti-social groups. Earlier, there were a lot of controversies and protests from few communities over Muslims reading Namaz. After the efforts of administration and social organizations, the dispute was resolved between the two communities.
